The entry into 2023 was a little bumpy for some of us. With Venus and Pluto meeting in a tense conversation, deep feelings, memories, trauma, and pains may have come bubbling to the surface to be evaluated, re-defined, loved, healed, or let go.
Pluto doesn’t do the easy stuff, it gets down into the ‘what’s buried in the shadows stuff’ kinda stuff – guilty, jealousy, betrayal, lust, corruption, power, obsession. It goes into the deep so that it can be a catalyst for transformation, and rebirth.
Though not fun, sometimes we have to walk through the valley of shadows to get to the light.
The Full Moon in Cancer, 7th January, helped us nurse the wounds, and give ourselves that very necessary, and very real Divine Mothers love. So we can more fully surrender the past to the past. And so that we can see, under her glow what we need to protect, and what we need to leave behind.
In the week leading up to the first New Moon of 2023, which fell on 22nd January, Mercury stationing direct, frazzling the mind, and the Sun meet Pluto, bringing more things up from the deep (this time around our purpose and relationship to power).
Sunday, over on Melbourne AU time, we have the New Moon gracing us, and its a super moon, meaning that it is closer in its orbit to the Earth and will affect the waters of the earth, as well as the waters within us with , which hold emotion and memory.
With regard to a New Moon in the sign of Aquarius – which is very future focused, we have the opportunity to open to new memory forms. To see the future and begin creating the memories the future version self wants to experience.
I’m so looking forward to this moon, t’s going to be a wild new moon, off beat and unexpected, and it is going to hold great influence over us.
1) because there is a lot of planets in ‘fixed’ signs, meaning that what we intend and commit to, we are more likely to stubbornly stick to
2) because it’s in Aquarius, and everything Aquarius does is way over there in the future ‘fringe’ of society. It may influence us to break free of past expectations and start moving forward along the beat of our own heart (or move to a hippie commune, either or ;))
3) because the ruler of Aquarius, Uranus (the Great Awakener) is hanging out with the North node of the Moon (our karmic future) and is also in extremely close proximity to the Earth – making its influence more intense, and helping us make rebellious strides toward living our authentic truth, so we can evolve toward our purpose here
4) Uranus will turn Direct the day after the New Moon, which means all planets will be in forward motion, creating a sense of speed, momentum, and the opening of doors that may have felt stuck since October
5) Jupiter is in Aries through May 20 – which means expanded action! We will have a lot of fire and luck in following that instinctual nature
6) Pluto, in the dark of the new moon night will ask us to get to the deep of our truth so we can transform the limits we perceive are holding us back
All so that we can start walking the path of our purpose (however big or small), express ourselves authentically, and live with the contentment and satisfaction that comes from following the heart.
Does that sound exciting?
It does to me!
What a time to recommit to our New Years Resolutions, just as our motivation begins to wane, our discipline, determination and persistence can rekindle the the spark.
What dreams and intentions will you re-commit to in the dark of this new moon night?
Coming Transits
23 January – love thy self
A big day astrologically!
Venus meets Saturn – in the Aquarian sky asking us to commit to the values that are true to us, With integrity and a resolve to nurture, love and support their growth.
Uranus Stations Direct – and with it opens a visa of opportunity to walk your own authentic truth. You may be surprised to find what you value, and what you once saw as a vision of your future will radically change.
25 January – a day of initiation

You may feel ready to expand your purpose. Optimistic about your direction. Ready to take inspired action.
27 January – the sea of love
Venus enters Pisces – Her favourite constellation.
Here she can dive deep into the sea of unconditional love, be the muse, commune with the divine. Here, we can compassionately and whole heartedly love on ourselves. A month of love, service, creativity, and attracting divine connections.
30 January – a day of brilliance
Mercury trine Uranus today, a day of ideas, mental sharpness, downloads and intellectual brilliance. Use it to generate ideas and use those ideas to support breakthrough and innovation
2 February – heal your connection to your purpose
The Sun sextiles Chiron in a friendly conversation, inspiring us to connect to our purpose from the perspective of healing the wounds standing in our way of stepping into our greatness. Use this day to re-affirm your connection to what it is you want to create in the world, and acknowledge the struggle with love.
4 February – practicality vs leaps into the unknown
The Sun squares Uranus today. With the Sun in Aquarius, and Uranus in Taurus, there can be some conflicting ideas on how to approach breaking free of the old way of doing life. Consider how you can achieve change from a place that feels practical and secure, while still unique, honest and exciting to you.
5 February – the lovers tif
Venus squares Mars from her favourite place in the zodiac, Pisces. In Pisces she wants to indulge in the boundless, timeless, mystical ocean of love. While Mars in Gemini wants to intellectualise and riff on ideas and data. There may be a sense of conflict between how we approach what we value, and how we act on what the mind wants.
Will you follow intuitive longings of heart? Or rationalise an outcome? Can both these pathways be honoured?
Use these dates to support your growth, and help you understand how to navigate the ever complex workings of emotions and mind.
